Web-Based Program Management Specialist

The Web-Based Program Management (WBPM) Specialist will provide a local transportation agency with system administration services and software program development for their web-based program management system, Trimble Unity Construct (formerly known as e-Builder). The WBPM system is used on agency construction projects to retain document control, coordinate submission of information through established approval workflows, and maintain user permissions and access controls.

This position has two primary functions: first, to manage user access, provide user support, and conduct training for new users; second, to collaborate with the agency to develop new or enhanced process workflows, configure the WBPM system to meet evolving business requirements, and coordinate the rollout of updates to all users. This is a full-time role that requires candidates to be proactive, with the ability to work well on a remote team, while occasionally leading in-person training sessions in Chicago.

What You’ll Do:

  • Act as the system administrator for the agency’s active WBPM system and provide user support.
  • Create process instruction materials and conduct training for new WBPM users.
  • Coordinate with the team to develop process workflows, reporting formats, and document control strategies.
  • Develop recommendations for improvements for system tools, policies, procedures, and reporting in support of the management of project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Explore and identify WBPM system capabilities to drive continuous improvement and support future agency goals and initiatives.
 

The Ideal Candidate will Bring:

  • Experience configuring Trimble Unity Construct (e-Builder), or similar program management database platforms.
  • Understanding of construction industry-specific business processes.
  • Proficient in front-end development for user interface functionality.
  • Knowledge of common programming tools and languages to coordinate collaboration between Trimble and the agency owner/user for future improvements.
  • Ability to assist in developing strategic approaches and concepts.
  • Intermediate-level skills in Microsoft Office applications.
 

Required Experience:

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective problem-solving.
  • Ability to collaborate well within remote teams with prompt responsiveness.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • 1-5 years of experience providing user support, help desk, and/or software program development.

 

The hourly rate for this position is $22 – $55, based on experience and qualifications.

Construction Field Engineer

The Construction Field Engineer will serve as a key member of the firm’s growing construction services discipline by working on construction management & inspection projects throughout Chicago area. The successful candidate will perform inspection services on road, bridge, and transit projects for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), Illinois Tollway, Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), and other clients.

This is a full-time role that requires work in various field offices and field locations across northern Illinois. Candidates must be self-driven, flexible, and understand the nature of working in various weather conditions and across various shifts.

What You’ll Do:

  • Inspect and document construction activities to ensure compliance with the contract plans and specifications.
  • Work closely with project engineer or supervisor to prepare reports detailing project costs, progress, risks and opportunities for review by senior management.
  • Work with supervisor to address public and contractor questions.
  • Make measurements and observations of work being performed to ensure accurate quantities are tracked for completed work and payment.
  • Electronically document pay quantities, material requirements, and contractor staff in a daily work report.
  • Trouble-shoot engineering-related issues in a field setting.
 

The Ideal Candidate will Bring:

  • IDOT, Illinois Tollway, Chicago Department of Transportation, and/or CTA project experience.
  • Experience with MicroStation and/or Trimble Unity Construct (e-Builder) system.
  • Intermediate-level skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to assist in developing strategic approaches and concepts.
 

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1-5 years of related experience for large construction programs, preferably in construction inspection and documentation.
  • Willingness to commute to construction projects in varying locations, work in all weather conditions, and work in various shifts.
  • Ability to prioritize project assignments to meet competing deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate well within teams, and promote effective problem-solving.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective decision-making.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Possess strong math skills.

 

The hourly rate for this position is $22 – $55, based on experience and qualifications.
